NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL - NEW - Principal's Report - 5

  • We have 160 elementary students and 69 high school students with a few more possible additions yet.
  • Monday our elementary students had an end-of-day "Meet the Teachers" assembly and enjoyed an otter pop afterward.
  • Our POPS (Power of Positive Students) monthly recognition this year centers on being a good citizen. For September we will be recognizing students who help their community. All students will be recognized one in the year. K-4 students will receive a certificate for a free kids meal from Red Robin and 5-12 students will receive a free shake. Our thanks to Red Robin!
  • Students celebrating their birthday will get to come to the principal's office and select a gift of their choice. There is a wide variety to choose from in the principal's window.
  • The following article is from the Statesman Journal about the rising fuel prices and the impact it has on school busing systems.

Oregon Conference Constituency Meeting
The Oregon Conference Constituency met on August 24 and voted to fully support K-12 schools in the conference. Previously, schools like Livingstone were required to fund the 11th and 12th grades entirely on their own. The conference would subsidize all other teaching positions to the amount of approximately $28,000 each. With the new vote passing, Livingstone will receive subsidy for all of our teachers.

School Campout at Cape Lookout
The School Campout is coming September 26-28th at Cape Lookout at the coast. We always have a fun time there. If you have not reserved your spot, please do so ASAP. We have 5 RV spots left. Our program will be the same as last year, with a short vespers Friday night and then church on Sabbath beginning at 11:00. Hopefully the weather will be good again and we can have Church at the outdoor amphitheater. Church will be followed by a potluck lunch in the Lodge. Make your plans now to be there.

LIVINGSTONE SABBATHS - During the school year you will notice that our school calendar includes items listed as, “LAA @ Stayton Adventist Church” or “LAA Senior Bells @ Dallas Adventist Church.”  We love to visit our constituent churches with our Livingstone Family participating in the local church service program.  These Sabbaths let everyone meet our great Livingstone students and staff.  To our parents and friends, we always extend an invitation for your support on any or all of these special Sabbaths.  Please feel free to join us for the service and also for a potluck meal afterward.

Weekly Bible Text:

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. ”
